Vitesse Motorsports Throttle Controller C7 Corvette Stingray on 2040-parts.com
Clinton Township, Michigan, United States
Up for sale is a new, unused Throttle Controller produced by Vitesse Motorsports. This particular unit was originally purchased by me to use on my 2016 Corvette C7 Stingray. It was never used/installed. A little background about what this unit will do........ Throttle response is how fast it takes from the time you mash the accelerator pedal to the time the engine RPM rises and how fast it rises. Throttle response is all about the time delay in the control system which alters the air pressure in the inlet manifold. It's only the time delay between moving the driver's right foot and changing the amount of air available at the inlets. A more responsive 450hp engine will outrun (other than top speed) a less responsive yet more powerful 500hp engine on the track assuming driver skills, vehicle suspension, tire adhesion, etc. being equal in the same car every time. When you open the throttle it responds by sucking in more air and adding more fuel. The power increase is caused because your RPM's rise. The faster your RPM's rise the faster your car can reach max power. Cold air intakes / ported throttle bodies / ported inatkes .... will all give some addittional maximum power but a Throttle Controller's biggest benefit is allowing the engine RPM to rise faster which translates to reaching maximum power sooner which means the car will be accelerating faster. How the Throttle Controller will affect your driving: 1- Daily Driving or at the Race Track: Vehicles that are equipped with a drive-by-wire system are affected greatly and a noticeable delay can be felt when quickly changing the position of the gas pedal. (You will understand and feel this delay after you install your new Controller). The Throttle response delay / lag is an intentional design on the "Drive by Wire system and the reasons are: • Decreasing emissions • Safety and drivability. • Comfort. • Fuel economy Driving Pleasure: Throttle response plays a major role in driving pleasure, as this gives the driver more control over the vehicle's acceleration or deceleration. If you have a very precise throttle response, it will not only make your driving maneuvres a lot more predictible but makes you feel more comfortable pushing the car's limits on corners. On a race track, while entering a corner, the requested power output is reduced since the vehicle is coasting or braking. After passing the corner, the driver will suddenly request more power to accelerate back to normal speeds. Fast throttle response allows a vehicle to regain its speed quickly after cornering. Drifting requires very precise and instant throttle response on a rear-wheel drive car, one wants to increase torque on the rear wheels at a precise moment in a corner to make it turn the car more in the direction of the road ahead past the corner, and make it stop at a precise moment or the car will spin out of control. No matter what the maximum engine power is, if the throttle response is slow, you will not be able to have control or do this maneuvre. |

BMW 7-series hybrid due in 2009
Mon, 07 Jul 2008By Nick Gibbs Motor Industry 07 July 2008 14:30 BMW will launch a hybrid petrol version of the newly unveiled 7-series in 2009, but admits it’s more for green-leaning V8 addicts than seriously eco-aware bosses. Even with the latest lithium-ion batteries, the forthcoming 4.4-litre V8 petrol-electric version will struggle to match the astonishing 39.2mpg and 192g/km of CO2 of the new six-cylinder diesel, especially when BMW will launch stop-start technology for the whole range within two years. The hybrid is likely to cost several thousand more than the £65,000 it’s estimated you’ll need to buy the regular, twin-turbo 750i that goes on sale in November 2008.
Teen driver safety: The GDL Kickback
Thu, 16 Sep 2010News that fewer teenagers are getting driver's licenses has been greeted with consternation in some corners, but it couldn't make the insurance industry happier. There are lies, damned lies and statistics--and sometimes legitimate, measurable trends. While some experts have quibbled about how some states report their information, no one argues the basic point: More teenagers are forgoing a driver's license longer than at any time in at least 20 years.
London Congestion Charge: Buy 76-100g/km car NOW to get 3 years free of charge
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Whether you think the London Congestion Charging Zone is a great way to clean up the air quality of the capital or just another way to tax motorists, you’re going to struggle even more to avoid it after the emission exemption levels are changed on 1st July so only cars emitting 75g/km CO2 or less will be exempt from the charge, Boris says the new lower level is necessary because car makers have worked their socks off to produce small diesel cars with the ability to hit the magic sub 100g/km emissions level in recent years, and that means London is suffering from air pollution as a result. The only answer, apparently, is to drop the limit to 75g/km or less to make those ‘dirty’ diesels pay their way. By reducing the limit to 75g/km you are effectively only allowing EVs and Plug-ins an exemption from congestion charging, thereby moving their emissions off to wherever the electricity they use is produced.
