On auction is a factory authorized coffee cup available only through Volkswagen dealerships to celebrate the recent announcement of the Concept One (New Beetle) in 1996.  I bought this cup at a VW dealership in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1996...just as VW was raising the spirits of those longing for a re-release of the New Beetle.

I bought this cup (and a tie/lapel pin which I will offer separately) as I had two vintage VWs at the time and still love the old VWs.  The cup sat in my display case for years until I packed things away for safe keeping.  I am trying to thin out my collection and thought it time to move this on to a new home where it can provide another VW enthusiast some joy.

The cup is really unique (and was expensive at the time...even for buying it from a dealership).  It is a heavy ceramic cup that looks to be about 12-14 oz.  The color is perfect black and front and back of the cup has a 2.5" x 3" grey silkscreen, iconic three circle image that inspired the shape of the Beetle (old and new).  The best part about the cup is the handle -- also in the shape of the New Beetle.  It was designed to celebrate that wonderful car and certainly is destined as a collectible.

The cup is MADE IN THE USA.

Again, these are authorized VW items available through the dealerships.

Thanks for your interest!

Vauxhall Cascada: Price from £23,995

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

The Vauxhall Cascada – Vauxhall’s new four-seat convertible – will cost from £23,995 and arrives in Vauxhall showrooms in April 2013. Starting at £23,995 for the Cascada SE with the 1.4 litre petrol and rising to £29,115 for the Cascada Elite with a 2.0 litre diesel and auto ‘box, the Cascada certainly offers a lot of full-size convertible for the money. There are just two trim levels available – Cascada SE and Cascada Elite – with the SE coming with 18″ alloys, LED tail lights, DAB, rear parking sensors and USB, The Elite adds in stuff like leather, heated seats, Climate and steering wheel and fog lights.

Car insurance market condemned by MPs

Fri, 04 Jul 2014

CAR INSURANCE is a "highly dysfunctional market" in which firms' pursuit of profit has led to higher prices for consumers, a report by MPs has said. In some cases, business practices have not been in the consumer interest and have "inadvertently encouraged criminal activity", the report from the House of Commons Transport Committee said. There was no clearer example of this than "insurance firms' willingness to pay compensation for whiplash claims which they suspect are fraudulent without requiring the claimant to undergo a medical examination".

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi: more news and pictures

Thu, 29 Oct 2009

The Formula 1 circus has descended upon Abu Dhabi for the finale of the 2009 championship this week, and when the GP crowd returns in 2010 alongside the track will be Ferrari World, a Ferrari-influenced theme park. It's been delayed slightly, but CAR Online has the latest update on the potentially record-breaking theme park being built next to the F1 circuit on Yas Island. According to the designers, not only will Ferrari World be the largest indoor theme park on Earth, but it will also house the fastest roller coaster.
