Vauxhall launches powerful 1.0 petrol engine

OLD-FASHIONED 1.6-litre petrol engines in Vauxhall cars are about to be replaced by a clever new 1.0-litre alternative. The tiny newcomer has only three cylinders, but thanks to a turbocharger it coughs up more power and torque than many normal 1.6-litre equivalents. It’s set to debut in Vauxhall’s funky Adam supermini, although the new engine will be display-only when it emerges at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

If MINI can make their car a Maxi in the Countryman, Fiat can make their 500 bigger by basing it on a different car altogether and calling it the Fiat 500L, and we had the first photo of the 500L last month. Nissan Pivo 3 concept (w/ Video)

The Nissan Pivo 3 will make its world debut at the Tokyo motor show later this month. You may remember the previous Pivo concepts featured a rotating, spherical cabin, which sat atop a square base whose four wheels allowed it to move in any direction. This Pivo is different in that its cabin is fixed and also (relatively) more car-like, with a design language that is now recognizably Nissan.
