Land Rover builds one-off Defender Dive Centre
Thu, 18 Jul 2013Land Rover has just built a one-off Defender truck for marine explorer and conservationist Monty Halls. A noted TV presenter and marine biologist, Halls has helmed several TV shows on BBC and Animal Planet. He is perhaps best known for his TV series called “Great Ocean Adventures,” his National Geographic specials, and his work on The Underwater Channel.

And while the Excalibur's retro vibes arose from the mausoleum of the Mercedes-Benz SSK, Hemmings has discovered Brooks Stevens's other neoclassic: the Excalibur 35X, meant to look like a Bugatti Type 35. Just 27 were built in Italy on the chassis of Opel Commodores, fitted with inline-sixes.
Tesla Motors open-sources patents
Fri, 13 Jun 2014Since Elon Musk founded Tesla Motors a decade ago, his electric car venture has been a thorn in the traditional auto manufacturers' side. Now, Musk has made another disruptive move by announcing he is scrapping the firm's patents. In a blog post on the Tesla website, he wrote "[the patents] have been removed, in the spirit of the open source movement, for the advancement of electric vehicle technology.
