Volvo and Polestar offer post-sale software upgrades

Volvo's performance arm, Polestar, will offer software upgrades for the T6 and 2.5T engines that will increase horsepower and torque. The upgrade should calm Volvo fans who missed out on the limited-edition Polestar C30. For the T6 engine in the 2010 Volvo XC60 and 2009-2010 XC70 Polestar will offer a bump in output from 281 hp to 311 hp.

The Siggraph conference and exhibition ranges from several days of highly technical courses and academic paper presentations, through to hands-on demos of new technologies, an art gallery, computer animation festival, and the two-day exhibition by software and hardware vendors. GM recalls 413,418 Chevrolet Cruze models to modify engine shield, prevent fires

General Motors is recalling all Chevrolet Cruzes sold in the United States for a fix aimed at preventing engine-compartment fires. GM said the recall covers 413,418 Cruzes, or all of the cars sold in the United States since the model's launch in September 2010 through May. The automaker said the recall is to modify an engine shield under the vehicle to prevent liquids from being trapped in the engine compartment, where a fire could start.
