Porsche 911 parade at Silverstone Classic hits record breaking 1,208

1,208 Porsche 911s hit the Silverstone track to celebrate Porsche-s 50th anniversary Last month, we reported that plans by Silverstone Classic to run a record-breaking parade of Porshe 911s to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Porsche had garnered so many applications that Silverstone has to stop accepting applications nearly two months ahead of the event. Now the 2013 Silverstone Classic 911 Parade has happened it seems Silverstone decided to go for broke, and instead of the originally planned parade of 911 911s, they actually managed to drive 1,208 911s round the Silverstone track at the same time – a new record. As well as 1208 911s, Porsche and the organisers of the Silverstone Classic managed to entice a number of names along too, including Mark Porsche – great grandson of Porsche founder, Ferdinand Porsche – former F1 and Le Mans driver Derek Bell and Le Mans drivers John Fitzpatrick and Richard Attwood.

PM opens Williams F1’s new Advanced Engineering Centre

Prime minister David Cameron has today opened Williams Racing’s new £8 million Advanced Engineering Centre in Grove, Oxford. The new facility will help transfer Williams’ four decades of title-winning F1 expertise into the world of road cars – and the PM has challenged the engineers working there to continue helping Britain compete on the world stage by developing new business opportunities. Ferrari celebrates 30 years in Hong Kong

ICONIC sporting brand Ferrari turned on the style to celebrate 30 years of presence in Hong Kong. Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo was in attendance alongside a spectacular display of over 600 Ferraris - the largest gathering ever in Greater China - arranged to form the traditional five-petal flower. The gathering also was used to show the firm's latest offering the 458 Speciale which was unveiled by Marc Gene, the Scuderia F1 team's chief test driver.
