It's been a busy five years for Aston Martin, thanks to divorce from Ford, worldwide recession, products such as the Cygnet and Lagonda, and an intense racing programme. CAR reader and Aston Martin Owners' Club member Garry Taylor had a one-to-one chat with Aston chairman David Richards to discuss the recent past, present and future of one of Britain's best-loved brands. As part of Aston Martin’s Centenary celebrations in Dubai, an Aston Martin Vanquish has been helicoptered to the top of the Burj Al Arab hotel. There’s no more extra power on offer from the centenary edition Astons, but they do get a special paint job and interior and come with solid silver enamelled plaques commemorating the centenary, even if Aston Martin seem to have only been able to cobble together a Vanquish Centenary Edition so far. But things have got a bit more spectacular in Dubai, with Aston Martin using a helicopter to stick a Vanquish on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, 1,000 ft up at the top of the iconic sail-shaped building.

Hydrogen powered Black Cab hits London streets

The first LTI TX4 hydrogen-powered London Taxi A hybrid fuel cell electric London cab has been revealed, but unlike recent developments with the traditional Black cab – where Mercedes are busy taking over - this experimental hydrogen-powered Cab is based on the familiar LTI TX4. The joy of using a hydrogen tank to run the batteries is that unlike a plug-in hybrid a refuel will take all of five minutes – no more than filling up with petrol or diesel would, A full tank will give a range of around 250 miles and – just like a plug-in BEV – the hydrogen powered cab is emission free at the point of use. The plan is to raise funding to produce a fleet of hydrogen powered Black Cabs in time for the London Olympics in 212.
