The burgeoning sports car plan is likely to sire everything from hot hatches to standalone sports cars. On our trip to Korea this week, sources at Kia HQ confirmed a range of performance models, designed to mix some excitement into a brand that now commands respect from mainstream buyers after its crawl upmarket to the volume market alongside Europe's mass-market brands.

The 2013 Grand Prix of America in New Jersey has been dropped as organisers run out of time to prepare for the New York street F1 event. With Bernie Ecclestone pushing to get America to fall in love with F1, a headline F1 act on the streets of New York – a Monaco GP for the colonials – looked like a plan. But it’s a plan that’s now been postponed until at least 2014 after Bernie plugged the plug on organisers as they need more time to prepare for what will, by any measure, be a huge logistical task.

Grand National Roadster Show kicks off in California

History continued today at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., as the 62nd annual Grand National Roadster Show opened its doors for the weekend. Twelve open-topped hot rods will vie for the title of "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" and the right of their owners to scratch thier names onto the accompanying nine-foot-tall trophy. A few minor tweaks to the rules will make this year's judging something new.
