Mercedes-Benz's Special Trucks unit (MBS) recently revealed a design study celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Unimog at the Daimler plant in Wörth, Germany. Called simply '60 Years Unimog', the concept is said to inform the future form language of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle design. Developed jointly by the MBS development team, the Daimler commercial vehicle designers in Sindelfingen and a model designing partner, the Unimog concept was inspired by the poison dart frog, a natie of Central and South America.

New York City Taxi of Tomorrow plans hit a roadblock

New York City administration's plan to replace current taxi cabs with the specially developed Nissan Taxi of Tomorrow has been stymied by a recent legal decision, the Wall Street Journal is reporting. The New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan (it's a bit confusing, but this is actually the on the level of the lowest state courts in New York state's court system) has issued a decision which determined the project to be an overreach of executive authority, siding with taxi magnate Evgeny Freidman and the Greater New York Taxi Association. GM reveals new, highly modular Ecotec engine family

GM introduced its new modular family of Ecotec engines on Wednesday at its powertrain headquarters in Pontiac, Mich. The new, reduced-in-size three- and four-cylinder mills will replace three of GM's current engine families, eventually making their way into five of the company's brands. The Ecotec family will eventually spawn 11 engines in total, ranging in displacement from 1.0 liter to 1.5 liters.
