BMW's new 5-series next for hybrid power

Wed, 28 Oct 2009

The new BMW 5-series being launched this winter is likely to be the next BMW to receive the ActiveHybrid system pioneered on the petrol-electric 7-series and X6 models. BMW engineers admit they can't rely on sales of the pricey hybrid 7-series and X6 to justify the development costs, even though these range-topping halo hybrids were jointly developed with Daimler and GM. Senior sources have indicated that the new 2010 5-series will be the next BMW to get an ActiveHybrid model.

Koenigsegg Agera R: Geneva bound

Thu, 20 Jan 2011

The first Koenigsegg Agera R - produced for the Oman Royal family This time last year – give or take a week or two – we heard a whisper that Koenigsegg had something new planned for Geneva. A day or two of furtling around and we were able to report a week later that Koenigesegg were indeed taking something new to Geneva – the Koenigsegg Agera. The Agera duly turned up at Geneva in March and the last year has seen a number of orders for Ageras, although so far – to the best of our knowledge – just two Ageras have been delivered.

Porsche Macan caught on video

Wed, 01 Aug 2012

The Porsche Macan – a Porsche Cayenne on a boil wash – has been spied out testing and caught on video. We’ve seen spy photos of the Porsche Macan before – Porsche’s take on the Audi Q5 – and they look more like a cut down Cayenne being used as a mule for the Macan’s underpinnings than an actual Macan. But it seems that the shots so far are actually the Macan as it’s heading for production, which means Porsche has, perhaps unsurprisingly, chosen the 911 school of car design as itsĀ inspirationĀ for the Macan and just stuck a Cayenne on a boil wash.
