2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe review notes

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

EXECUTIVE EDITOR BOB GRITZINGER: Just when all the auto pundits thought the big-honkin' all-wheel-drive full-size (at least for Mini) Countryman was the first sign of Mini's impending demise, along comes the apocalypse, otherwise known as the Cooper Coupe. Though people of all ages venture that it “looks cool” or “interesting” or “fun,” none of them have had to drive it or live with it. KoenigSaab coming soon?

Fri, 29 May 2009

Koenigsegg are in the running to take over Saab Saab were given Swedish Government protection recently (similar to Chapter 11) to try and find a suitor or funding to operate independently. Of course they can’t do that completely, at least not in the short term, as they are so tied in to GM’s platforms on their current and soon to be released cars. But Saab has a strong – if quirky – history and, with the right backing, could stand alone as a niche maker of aesthetically individual cars.

Nissan Ellure concept (2010) unveiled

Thu, 18 Nov 2010

The Nissan Ellure has today made its world debut at the 2010 LA auto show. Nissan's senior vice president and chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura states that 'it's not intended as a preview of any upcoming production model' and that 'the Ellure confirms Nissan’s intention to be a strong player in the sedan segment for many years to come' An interesting u-turn, as Nissan has steadfastly pioneered niche markets over the last decade, whilst turning their back on the traditional sectors. Well, the drivetrain's worth a mention: the Ellure boasts a supercharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder with Intelligent Dual Clutch Control (one motor/two clutch design with lithium-ion battery) and 25 kW electric motor.
