2014 Volvo XC90 to get a raft of new safety technology

The 2014 Volvo XC90 (pictured) will get a whole raft of new safety technology We know that the Volvo XC90 will be replaced (finally) next year with a new XC90 using Volvo’s new SPA platform and powered by their new range of 4-cylinder, high efficiency engines. We’ve also got a clue or two about how the new XC90 will look thanks to a design exercise by Volvo’s designers in 2011 to create their vision of the next generation XC90. When Ford unveiled the Fairlane concept in 2005, the company attempted to "rewrite the people mover story", according to Group Vice President of Design and Chief Creative Officer, J Mays. The Minivan, once the symbol of suburban America, had fallen out of favor - its dowdy, "soccer mom" image eschewed in exchange for upscale, aggressive SUVs. According to Mays, the idea with the Fairlane was to "move people emotionally as well as physically", something few minivans had done before.

Nissan has unveiled its all-new 2013 Sentra, the third of five new vehicles being introduced in a 15-month period. The new Sentra – which measures in at 4,625mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,496mm high – is 68kg lighter than its predecessor while still having larger overall dimensions and a more spacious interior. Sitting on a wheelbase of 2,700mm, the Sentra adopts the automaker's new signature trapezoid-shaped grille and large wraparound headlights with LED accents.
