Bugatti Bordeaux – a 4-door Veyron?
Wed, 15 Jul 2009The Bugatti Event Invitation - Are Bugatti about to announce the Bugatti Bordeaux - a four-door supercar? But now there is new speculation. We received in our inbox a scan of an invitation sent out to a Veyron owner for a special event Bugatti are planning to mark their centenary, which seems to show a very low-res four-door Bugatti – if you squint hard.
Saab 9-4X (2008) at Detroit
Mon, 14 Jan 2008By Ben Oliver First Official Pictures 14 January 2008 16:51 Saab pulled the covers off its new 9-4X small SUV, which goes on sale early in 2009 to rival the BMW X3 and new Mercedes-Benz GLK. Although officially dubbed the 9-4X Biopower Concept, GM Europe’s advanced design chief Anthony Lo promised CAR Online: 'We’re not teasing you. This is pretty much the car you’re going to get.' Controversially, the new Saab won’t be built in Sweden, but in Mexico, where it will share a factory with the still-secret Cadillac BRX which it will closely resemble.
'American Nitro' is back!
Wed, 09 Apr 2014"Seventies drag-race mayhem is back!" bills "American Nitro," a schlocky drive-in exploitation film whose only quote of praise, from a dog-eared period issue of "Car Craft," reads, simply, "SPECTACULAR CRASHES!" Director Bill Kimberlin says that he made "American Nitro" in 1979 as a response to Tom Wolfe's influential 1965 essay, "The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby." "I was just getting out of high school in a small town in Northern California when Wolfe's book came out," he said. "Nitro came about as my response to the car culture I was exposed to in the small valley town of Boonville, Calif. Instead of 'American Graffiti,' I made 'American Nitro.'" A fitting comparison, in fact, considering Kimberlin later worked for George Lucas at ILM, starting with" Return of the Jedi." Now the movie is being released on DVD for the first time -- beware of bootlegs, warns the website -- and digitally remastered, while retaining the explosive charm and goofy narration of the 1979 original.
