AMG plans greener, cleaner performance cars
Wed, 08 Oct 2008By Ben Whitworth Motor Industry 08 October 2008 08:00 AMG is going green – the maker of unfeasibly fast Mercedes-Benz models is gearing up for hybrid and diesel versions, using advanced low-weight materials to retain their tyre-smoking performance credentials while satisfying the nagging greener conscience. In an exclusive CAR interview, Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach boss Volker Mornhinweg spoke candidly about the company’s future and outlined why a raft of imminent eco measures would enhance AMG’s performance capabilities rather than stifle them. ‘Of course emissions and economy are important to us at AMG – only a fool would ignore these factors today,’ said Mornhinweg (pictured).
Porsche 911 Carrera GTS: Paris Motor Show 2010 +video
Thu, 07 Oct 2010Porsche 911 Carrera GTS - Video below Porsche managed to add two new 911s to its range at the Paris Motor Show, which must now mean you have a choice of at least 147 911s when next you venture out to the local Porsche dealer. The 911 Speedster will be daft money, but the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will be a little more sanely priced at £76,758 for the Coupe. We actually got the reveal on the 911 GTS slightly ahead of the press days at Paris, but probably because that left more room for the 911 Speedster to shine at the show itself.
Concept Car of the Week: Cadillac Voyage (1988)
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Once a symbol of America's most luxurious automobiles, Cadillac's image had begun to wane by the mid-1980s, and not even the Pininfarina-designed and built two-seater Allante was enough to excavate the brand's long gone leadership. In an effort to take Cadillac onto the global stage, engineers and the team of designers led by Chuck Jordan began working on the Voyage concept, a rolling laboratory with visionary styling and innovative technology. It was unveiled in 1988 at a technological exhibition in New York thus highlighting that rather than a stylist's dream come true, it was a very serious study towards aerodynamic, performance, handling, comfort and efficiency in an age when automated superhighways would allow fast, safe inter-State travel.
