I am offering for sale a new, never installed, Whipple twin screw supercharger kit designed for 2001-2002 Chrysler PT Cruisers. It is a complete kit and comes in the original box with original foam packing material. It has been in storage for years and the box shows wear. I had planned to install this on my PT Cruiser, but never started the project. This could possibly be the last "new" PT Cruiser Whipple kit left since they have not been available for quite some time. The supercharger is labeled "Pt-tuning serial No 006". Comes with everything pictured including installation instructions, piggy-back computer, hoses, wiring harness, clamps, and hardware. This kit also includes a CARB sticker. Everything has been inspected and everything is in new, undamaged condition. The supercharger itself turns smoothly with no shaft play.

Although this kit was designed for 2001-2002 model year PT Cruisers, it could potentially be used on any year model PT Cruiser with proper alternative fuel and ignition monitoring and control (Whipple piggy-back computer only works on 2001-2002 models).

This kit is offered at a great value if you consider that it originally sold for $3600 15 years ago. The Lysholm twin screw superchargers, such as this one, are more expensive to manufacture compared to the roots type and centrifugal superchargers.

2011 World Car of the Year: Three finalists – one’s not a car

Sat, 05 Mar 2011

Nissan LEAF in a bubble at Geneva It looks like the WCOTY (World Car of the Year) is infected with the same set of vested interest as the European Car of the Year – they’ve voted the Nissan LEAF as one of the three finalists. By any sane measure the Nissan LEAF is not a car. It is at best a very good second mode of transport for those who don’t seek value and live in an urban area.

Kia to launch a new range-topping V8 saloon dubbed K9

Tue, 22 Mar 2011

Kia will build their rumoured rear-wheel drive V8 saloon - but it won't come to the UK, sources in Korea have confirmed to CAR.Following the domestic badge hierarchy, this new range-topper would logically be called the K9. Perhaps that dog-inspired badge may explain why the car won’t come to Europe, but US sales are expected.  Kia’s new range-topper: the ‘K9’ The new large Kia saloon was scheduled to be shown in 2011, but it has now been pushed back to a 2012 launch. The new saloon would sit above the front-drive 3.5-litre V6 K7/Cadenza saloon in the Kia line-up. CAR understands the new exec will be ready by May 2012.   The K9 represents the first application of sister brand Hyundai's rear-drive technology from the Genesis and Equus. Expect Hyundai's 'Tau' V8 engine under the bonnet, along with the upcoming eight-speed automatic transmission which arrived in the Genesis R-Spec saloon at the 2011 Chicago auto show.
