Video: Darrell Waltrip laps Bathurst with V8 Supercar driver Jason Bright

Tue, 11 Oct 2011

One of the most entertaining things to come out of the Bathurst 1000 last weekend in Australia--besides Garth Tander and Nick Percat taking the checkered flag--was ex-NASCAR driver and commentator Darrel Waltrip going for a wild hot lap with V8 Supercar driver Jason Bright. After taking the first turn at speed in the 650-hp Holden Commodore, Waltrip yells, “Impossible!” The video gets even more entertaining around the Esses and the Dipper, two succeeding corners. The clip is full of repeatable one-liners from Waltrip including, “I lost my lunch, and I didn't even have lunch.” He calls the track on Mount Panorama a geological oddity.

HondaLink Internet streaming launches with redesigned 2013 Accord

Wed, 18 Jul 2012

Honda will introduce technology, called HondaLink, that links vehicles with the Internet via smartphones with the redesigned 2013 Accord that goes on sale this fall. The HondaLink app on the driver's phone will access a large menu of information and entertainment services streamed from Aha, a service of audio-equipment supplier Harman. Honda's goal with HondaLink is to enable drivers to access services such as Slacker Internet radio and Yelp restaurant reviews without the need to touch their cell phones.

Lewis Hamilton takes pole at British Grand Prix – Mercedes front row

Sat, 29 Jun 2013

Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg (pictured) celebrate their front row at the British Grand Prix Mercedes may have turned in some stunning qualifying laps this year (although their race performance hasn’t really matched up) but Hamilton’s pole at the 2013 British Grand Prix was a stunner – almost half a second (0.452s) ahead of team mate Nico Rosberg. The pole for Hamilton – his first since the Chinese Grand Prix – was a corker (as was Rosberg’s, to be fair) and left the Red Bulls relegated to the second row with Vettel in third and the newly ‘retired’ Mark Webber in fourth. But whether the stunning lap by Hamilton presages an impossible task for Red Bull tomorrow, we’ll have to wait and see.
