Wilwood

Forged Dynalite Brake Caliper

The Forged Billet Dynalite has wide spread application over many forms over motorsports. It serves as the base model in the majority of Wilwood's Bolt-On Disc Brake Kits. The latest applied developments and innovations in caliper design and manufacturing processes have resulted in substantial improvements in strength and performance over all comparable models.

Forged Dynalites are the strongest calipers in the class, with weights starting at 2.80 pounds. The process of stress-flow forging re-aligns the metal's grain structure within the contour of the caliper body. This process eliminates the breaks and interruptions to the internal grain structure that occur when machining a straight block billet. The FEA generated radial transition design eliminates steps and shoulders in the area between the piston housing body and the caliper bridges.

Incorporating a radius in this transition area substantially increases resistance to deflection and caliper separation under load. Structural deflection and volume displacement tests have proven the Forged Dynalite to outperform all existing styles of this popular caliper size. Without even considering the overall greater strength and reliability of the forging, the reduced deflection tendencies and the resulting decrease in fluid volume displacement translate to increased clamping efficiency with less pedal travel. The bottom line is a taller pedal and better stopping power.

Brabus at 2009 Frankfurt motor show

Fri, 18 Sep 2009

By Tom Sharpe First Official Pictures 18 September 2009 13:12 Mercedes tuning supremo Brabus unveiled its new 788bhp EV12 at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show – a car so powerful there’s only room for ten on the open road. Number one of ten limited-edition Brabus EV12s struck a brooding figure at the tuner’s stand – hardly surprising with a 6.3-litre bi-turbo V12 under the bonnet and a £440,000 price tag. The E-class has been transformed into a tarmac-shredding supercar-chaser thanks to the introduction of a newly developed SV12 R bi-turbo engine which, Brabus claims, was implanted under the bonnet with 'almost surgical precision'.

Lamborghini LP700-4 (2011): the rolling chassis

Wed, 23 Feb 2011

Lamborghini continues the long drip-feed on the new V12 supercar replacement for the Murcielago with this first picture of the carbonfibre rolling chassis. In this week's edition of motor show teaser photography, Lamborghini has started with a naked LP700-4 chassis, prior to next week's reveal of the fully clothed new V12 supercar.  You can clearly see the new pushrod suspension, the carbonfibre chassis, subframes snd the suitably enormous wheel and tyre package.    None at this point. CAR's Gavin Green has driven one of the prototypes (see the January 2011 edition) but it will be at next week's 2011 Geneva motor show where the world gets its first clear look at the new Lamborghini.

Marchionne says he'll likely step aside from Chrysler in 2015 or 2016

Wed, 03 Aug 2011

Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne on Wednesday hinted that he will be stepping aside from the helm of the U.S. automaker within five years. During a question-and-answer session at the 2011 Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich., the 59-year-old executive said Chrysler's future plans "will be up to the guy after me--after 2015 or maybe a year later….
