Decreased rotating weight in the drive line provides quicker deceleration under braking and quicker acceleration out of the corners. ULD-32 Series Drilled Straight Vane Vented Iron Rotors feature a two row, 64 hole pattern that alternates between and directly over each vane. Each hole is deeply chamfered to eliminate any stress points that could result in premature cracking at the drill holes. The drilling process removes an average of one pound from each rotor. Rotating and unsprung rotor mass is reduced by as much as 12%.

A new metal forming technique pioneered by Ford that drastically reduces the time and cost of producing low-volume and one-off body parts may lead to cost-effective customization, redesigns, one-offs and limited production runs. Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) forms sheets of metal by two stylus-like tools, one on each side of the surface. Using CAD data they form the part to the exacting strength and finish tolerances usually associated with stamping dies.

The new Toyota Auris is heading for a debut at Paris 2012 and Toyota has now revealed prie and specification ahead of its reval. Starting point will be £14,495 and there will be four trim grades - Active, Icon, Sport and Excel – as well as two petrol engines – 1.33 Dual VVT-i and 1.6 litre Valvematic – a single 1.4 litre D-4D diesel and a hybrid, with the diesel and petrols getting a six-speed manual ‘box and Toyota’s Multidrive S CVT an option on the 1.6 petrol. The Auris hybrid gets the E-CVT automatic.
