AW Design Forum: Ralph Gilles talks technology - with style
Thu, 14 Jan 2010Chrysler Group is known for its rough and tough trucks and menacing muscle cars, but its design boss said technology is going to be the game-changer for car designers going forward. Ralph Gilles, who is also CEO of the Dodge brand, said cars must be able to adapt to evolving technologies while remaining striking and pleasing to the eye. Smartphones, touch screens and colorful interfaces are all becoming common inside cars.
Warren Golf & Country Club Classic & Supercar event this weekend
Wed, 01 May 2013There are plenty of supercar and classic car shows up and down the UK to keep petrolheads (and their families) fed with a regular dose of adrenalin and high-octane thrills, but it’s always nice to report on a new one, especially a new one that offers the promise of something worth making the effort for. The Warren Golf & Country Club, which nestles on the Warren Estate in Woodham Mortimer – far from the white stilettos and tangoed complexions of the more chavvy parts of Essex – has its first ever classic and supercar show event this Saturday (4th May 2013) and they’ve made a pretty good fist of putting an appealing array of goodies together. Max Chilton, a relatively new entrant in the F1 world, will be there together with his Marussia F1 car, as will be the entire Le Mans Jaguar XJR Team thanks to local specialists JD Classics.
Volvo V40 Cross Country & V40 R-Design: Paris 2012
Fri, 28 Sep 2012Volvo has revealed the V40 Cross Country and V40 R-Design at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, and both are convincing. The sporty take on the new V40 is the V40 R-design, a cosmetic update for the already good-looking V40 that manages to bolt on go-faster bits without wrecking the good lines of the normal V40. We would like to have seen the Volvo V40 R-Design get the sports suspension as standard, but Volvo obviously feel that most R-Design buyers want the looks rather than the more dynamic ride the sports suspension offers, so it stays as an option. And as the R-Design option is available across the new V40 range – from the D2 to the T4 – it’s probably the right decision.
