Mercedes confirms C-class coupe to launch in 2011

Buyers seeking a blend of sportiness and luxury will get another choice in 2011: Mercedes confirmed this week it's adding a C-class coupe to its portfolio. The two-door will be built at the Mercedes plant in Bremen, Germany, where the C-class sedan, wagon and GLK are also assembled. The C-class coupe would fight the BMW 1-series, Cadillac CTS coupe and smaller Audis.

Jaguar to end XK production after 18 years

Jaguar will this summer cease production of the XK 2+2 GT car after 18 years at the top of the Coventry firm’s model range. The decision to stop making the XK comes after the hugely successful launch of the F-Type – which, say analysts, has led to a big fall in XK sales as thousands of buyers queues up to buy the F-Type. Mercedes-Benz will drop the slow-selling R-class wagon from its U.S. lineup after the 2012 model year. But the German automaker will continue to build the R-class at its plant in Alabama for export to other markets.
