Mon, 02 Apr 2012Toyota Yaris Hybrid costs from £14,995 The Toyota Yaris Hybrid – the UK and Europe’s Prius C alternative – will start at £14,995 making it the UK’s cheapest hybrid car. Back in February we learnt that the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, which is the small hybrid offering in the UK and Europe instead of the Prius C, will cost ‘under £15,000′. Well, it does but only just – the Yaris Hybrid starts at £14,005.
Euro NCAP crash tests: hybrids score full marks

Dr Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s secretary general said: ‘The technology andknow-how is out there for car makers to deliver vehicles with better pedestrianprotection. Honda and Toyota are giving us a glimpse of the cars of the future thatconsider the natural and social environment in its entirety.’ A Toyota official said hybrids posed new problems for its engineers.
Mazda wins 2008 LA Design Challenge
Tue, 25 Nov 2008The Mazda Kaan concept has won the fifth annual LA Design Challenge competition, part of the Design Los Angeles automobile designer's conference. The award was presented during the second press day of the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, following a designers' luncheon and keynote speech by Daniel Simon, visionary futurist and author of Cosmic Motors. As we reported last month, nine local Southern California design studios entered the competition to envisage how motor sport vehicles might be in the year 2025, answering the theme ‘Motorsports 2025'.
