The WOLVERINE 500 HP T3/T4 57-Trim Turbocharger

We have named this the WOLVERINE because it accurately describes this turbo's character, or attitude if you'd prefer.  This turbo is modestly sized but ferocious and won't back down from any challenge.  This 57-trim turbo is equipped with a STG III turbine and a T3 flanged inlet for compact exterior dimensions which belie it's 500 horsepower appetite.

The compressor housing is a TO4E design that features both a huge 4" inlet and 2.5" discharge for moving large amounts of air molecules through the 56+ mm compressor wheel with efficient ease.  The gentle radius of the inlet directs airflow right to the blades which are poised and await unsuspecting air molecules like the predator this turbo is named after.  The street manners of this compressor trim are ideal for pump gas tunes because of the maps efficiency in the 15 to 25 psi range.  After our signature level of porting is applied to this housing 500 horsepower becomes an everyday affair.

On the other side of the bearing housing sits a Garrett STG III Inconel alloy turbine wheel which is precisely shaped to turn exhaust gasses into immediate shaft acceleration to get the compressor wheel spinning at ideal rpm's RIGHT NOW.  This is the turbine wheel trim of choice for responsive boost delivery above 300 horsepower.  Each WOLVERINE turbine housing sports a .63 A/R which gets the best combination of spine-tingling response and mid to top-end power delivery.  We have spent a few hours with carbide burrs and sanding rolls to turn the rough cast inlet into a smooth passage for the exhaust gasses to move through with little turbulence.  It is all about velocity and efficient gas flow here.  Even the turbine discharge is reworked to improve gas flow and reduce back-pressure so that the turbine wheel can accelerate as quickly as possible.  The outlet is a 3" v-band which is integrated into the housing for a non-turbulent exit from the wheel and high-flowing transition into your downpipe.

The CHRA of the WOLVERINE is of course, fully blueprinted.  We employ our unique channeled bearings and an upgraded 360 degree thrust component set for the best in performance and durability.  The journal surfaces of the turbine shaft and thrust plate are polished for a tough, low-friction environment for the oil to work in.  Internal friction from all of these modifications is reduced by an impressive 20% which directly improves both durability and transient boost response.  Another added bonus is the inclusion of a staggered-gap turbine seal to keep oil out of the exhaust downpipe.  Combined with the effects of the porting applied to both housings, the net result is a turbo that responds an honest 400 rpm sooner than if it had not been treated to the 'Exclusive Turbosystems' touch.

The bottom line is that the WOLVERINE is a responsive turbocharger with fairly compact dimensions that can deliver 500 horsepower all day long.  Scrappy and ferocious boost delivery.  The Exclusive Turbosystems WOLVERINE, don't misjudge it's size.

Duo of Chevrolet NAPCO 4x4 trucks to cross the block

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Interest in classic pickup trucks has been surging in the past few years, introducing car collectors to a whole new world of desirable vehicles. And while the "rules" are still being written when it comes to what's acceptable in a restoration, there are clear favorites, with austerity and originality typically valued over luxury. As nostalgia for the trucks of the 1950s increases, so do the amounts collectors are willing to pay for the workhorses of yesteryear.

MPs call for parking charge reports

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

COUNCILS should publish annual parking-charge reports to show where revenue comes from and where it is being used, MPs said today. The use of parking charges and fines specifically to raise revenue was "neither acceptable nor legal" said Louise Ellman, chairman of the House of Commons Transport Committee. Launching a report by her committee into local authority parking enforcement in England, Mrs Ellman said: "There is a deep-rooted public perception that parking enforcement is used as a cash cow, so it's essential that local authorities apply stringent transparency." The committee said local authorities in England had a collective parking surplus in the hundreds of millions of pounds, but that the exact amount was subject to debate.
