This is a 235 hp Wright R760-8 engine which is a part of Dan Murray’s estate. Dan was well known in the vintage aviation community as a meticulous craftsman and antique aircraft restorer who had begun to overhaul this engine before he was tragically killed last March. The crankshaft was checked for run out, and both it & the master/link rod assembly have been cleaned and magnaflux inspected. The carburetor, magnetos, and oil pump are overhauled. All the other parts have been solvent washed and are ready for inspection and overhaul. The engine is packaged in a wooden crate and is ready for shipment. The Q7 V12 TDI is still officially a concept; Audi revealed the road-going version of its race engine at last year’s Paris motor show and hasn’t confirmed when it will go into production, but it will almost certainly be offered in both the Q7 and the A8.
