Mitsubishi readies Outlander plug-in hybrid (2012)

Mitsubishi is set to pull the wraps off the plug-in hybrid version of its Outlander SUV at the 2012 Paris motor show. As CAR previously reported back in February, Mitsubishi is continuing its commitment to electrify its range, with the Outlander PHEV incorporating lesson's learned from the brand's fully electric iMiEV city car. Peugeot Citroen idles Slovak factory over falling orders

PSA to halt production of 207 & C3 Picasso in Slovakia The news that Peugeot Citroen (PSA) is to suspend production at its factory in Trnava, Western Slovakia, as orders for cars fall away, is another sign of the impending gloom in the Euro zone car industry. PSA has revealed that the Trnava factory – which produces the Peugeot 207 and Citroen C3 Picasso – will be shut from October 28th to November 18th (a period which does include two bank holidays) as orders start to fall away and production exceeds demand. But this announcement seems to be the tip of the iceberg for PSA’s factory closures.

GM grants Saab a reprieve, CEO Henderson resigns

GM has been trying to sell Saab for the past year, and the Swedish car maker has been under court bankruptcy protection since February 2009.GM chief executive officer Fritz Henderson also announced he was to stand down. His interim successor is hard-nosed GM chairman Ed Whitacre – meaning that GM Europe and the US mothership have both lost their bosses in a matter of weeks.
