Audi sells over 1,000,000 cars in 2008
Thu, 08 Jan 2009Audi breaks the 1,000,000 car sales barrier in 2008 [ad#ad-1] Audi has really made an impression on the car market in the last decade. From the old Auto Union days (which was created by amalgamating the car makers Horch, Audi, DKW and Wanderer), it is now part of the German luxury car triumvirate – BMW, Mercedes and Audi – and considered to be the equal of the others. No mean feat.
Car production increases again
Thu, 19 Sep 2013THE SOCIETY of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said UK manufacturers built 91,282 cars in August, up 16.2%, or 12,705, on the same period in 2012, leaving year-to-date volumes 3.1% ahead of 2012, at 984,545. The figures showed 20,298 cars were made for the home market this year, up 21.1%, while 70,984 were for export, up 14.8%. SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said: "The past 12-months has been one of the most productive since late 2008." Samuel Tombs, of consultancy Capital Economics, said the CBI figures showed the manufacturing sector "continuing to go from strength to strength".
Jaguar XF 2.0 litre EcoBoost for China
Tue, 12 Jun 2012Jaguar are to fit the 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine to the XF for the Chinese market as a more affordable entry point for the XF range. Even though Jaguar Land Rover are yet to get official Chinese Government approval for their Joint Venture with Chery, China is already a big market for them and, just like other luxury car makers, they are willing to produce cars just for the China market. According to reports from China, the Jaguar XF is about to get the 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine from the Range Rover Evoque to create a new entry-level Jaguar XF at a more appealing price point.
