Nissan Extrem concept bows at Sao Paulo auto show

Wild concepts during auto shows are nothing new, especially from Nissan. The automaker is adding to its reputation with the Extrem small crossover, which debuted recently at the Sao Paulo auto show. The Extrem is wild, but we could easily see it going into production, though Nissan's given no indication of such.

It’s a 4x4 with a coupé body, seriously high performance engines including a 407bhp twin-tubocharged V8 and a trick diff to give it a flavour of the M division’s finest. The X6 is based on the X5's chassis and shares its wheelbase, but its around 20mm lower and has a wider track, to enhance its dynamic ability.   It’s certainly the sportiest SUV so far.

Nissan Leaf gets battery warranty boost

Nissan Motor Co. plans to bolster the warranty of the battery module in its electric Leaf to reassure consumers of its durability. The company intends to notify current owners and dealers early next year that it will make the warranty retroactive to cover all existing Leafs, offering to repair or replace the car’s lithium-ion battery if it loses more than 30 percent of its ability to hold a charge after five years or 60,000 miles.
