Unique book captures iconic motor racing colours
Mon, 15 Sep 2014A BEAUTIFUL new book has been released that documents 77 different liveries from famous racing cars throughout the decades. Among the famous and celebrated paint schemes set out in Racing Colours are Gulf, Martini and British Racing Green classics from the racetrack and even from cinema, like that of the Porsche 917K driven by Steve McQueen’s Michael Delaney in the 1970 film Le Mans. A racing car’s livery is a key component in the enjoyment of motorsport through creating attractive car designs.
Ferrari video of the next Enzo's HY-KERS hybrid
Thu, 26 Apr 2012Ferrari has issued video of its new HY-KERS hybrid system bound for the new Enzo successor due later in 2012. It mates a V12 petrol engine with a brace of electric motors - one to drive the car's ancillary systems like cooling and power assistance, and the larger one to drive the rear wheels. This teaser video doesn't give away any incredible performance figures, but it does afford a glimpse into Maranello's thinking for its new hypercar.
Tesla Model S owners will receive upgraded charge adapters
Mon, 13 Jan 2014After a garage fire in Irvine, Calif., in November of last year in which an overheated charging system for a Tesla Model S sedan was stated to possibly have been involved, Tesla will be sending out upgraded wall-charger adapters to all Tesla Model S owners. This upgrade comes on the heels of an over-the-air software update for the charging system in the Model S sedan. Software version 5.8.4 would enable the charging system to automatically reduce the charging current by 25 percent if the system detects unexpected fluctuations in the input power, essentially slowing the charging current and reducing the heat created in any high-resistance connections if the car senses that the current is unsteady.
