Base is sturdy polypropylene. Sits just 15mm off the deck then fully extends to 40mm in use. Cleat mechanism is spring loaded so it automatically retracts when you remove the rope. GM posts $2.5 billion profit, led by North America

General Motors on Thursday posted a profit of $2.5 billion for the second quarter, led by strong results in North America. GM's net income for the April-through-June period nearly doubled from $1.3 billion in the year-earlier quarter. It was GM's sixth consecutive quarterly profit since exiting bankruptcy in mid-2009.

With Alonso on pole, two Red Bulls and Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes jus behind and rain likely, Silverstone 2012 could be interesting. Qualifying for the 2012 British Grand Prix was a shambles with more rain than the average July sees all month. But through it all there were some great drives, not least of which was Alonso putting his Ferrari on pole, Webber taking second in his adopted home Grand Prix and the King of the rain – Michael Schumacher – in third.
