Audi supercars
Mon, 28 Jul 2008By Ben Oliver 28 July 2008 12:35 Audi is the fledgling player in the supercar arena. Yes, it's shown numerous concepts over the years, but it wasn't until the 2007 R8 arrived that we could actually drive a supercar with Ingolstadt's four rings writ large on the grille. And what an effort: straight out of the box, the R8 has delivered a car with the poise of a 911 Carrera 4S with the ease-of-use of a Honda NSX.
Hyundai increasing European production to 500,000 a year
Fri, 12 Jul 2013Hyundai are upping production in Europe to 500,000 per annum There’s an awful lot of sense in car makers designing and building cars for the markets they serve locally, and it’s a route Hyundai has followed in Europe, where the majority of their sales are of European built models, not imports. With Hyundai sales still growing despite the European car market meltdown, Hyundai are increasing capacity in Europe to keep up with demand with further investment in their plant in Ízmit, Turkey. Originally, the Ízmit plant produced just 60,000 cars a year, but in 2007 that was increased to 125,000 and now it is being increased to 200,000 so the new i10 can be built there as well as the latest i20.
The ‘Persuaders’ Aston Martin DBS fetches £533,500 at Bonhams auction
Mon, 19 May 2014The Persuaders Aston Martin DBS sold at Bonhams Aston Martin Works sale As we reported back in March, the Aston Martin DBS driven by Roger Moore in the 1970s TV Series The Persuaders – where Moore played Lord Brett Sinclair and Tony Curtis Danny Wilde – was up for sale this weekend at the Bonhams Aston Martin works sales Newport Pagnell. The first time this iconic TV car had been offered for sale in 40 years – although without its iconic ‘BS 1′ number plate – the DBS fetched an impressive £533,500 (including buyers premium and taxes) – a world record price. Compared to the huge prices reached by James Bond Aston Martins, the price paid for the Persuaders DBS was small, but in terms of the price paid for a ‘TV’ car it was huge.
