Nothing beats the sound of a radial engine starting up, however there is another perhaps equally as exciting  event, an Electric or Hand crank inertia accelerating motor. The wind up whine is unforgettable and when up to speed the starter is engaged turning the engine for start. This 12 Volt model does both, use electric start or when necessary you can hand crank the starter up to speed. We believe this unit to be new old stock and a rare find. Most run $1,200 to $1,600 or more. Fits many engines and used on many WW11 Primary trainers like the Stearman PT-17’s Made by Bendix/Eclipse  New Jersey  Model 947-9A   S/N 4216  Clutch Setting Yellow Tag Check.

Few Stearmans and other’s have this original starter installed. Make you and Airshow Judges happy put this rare one on your aircraft and watch the crowds cheer when you start up!

E-Type Jaguar - the Nation's Favourite Sports Car You may remember we reported a few weeks back that the organisers of the Silverstone Classic were running a poll to find out the nation’s favourite sports car of all time. The ‘nominees’ left a little to be desired, with some of the greatest sports cars ever built conspicuously missing from the list. But there were a few goodies from which to choose, and a few that should never have made the list in the first place.

Commercial vehicles is not exactly our stock in trade. We tend not to give you news and info on the latest commercial releases from the like of LDV or Renault, mainly because our readers aren’t really that interested (but if we’re wrong, tell us and we will!). But this is one van we will make an exception for.

Cadillac ConverJ unveiled at Detroit auto show 2009

Mon, 12 Jan 2009

By Tim Pollard Motor Shows 12 January 2009 14:29 GM came out fighting with new product in tune with the times at the Detroit auto show 2009. The Cadillac ConverJ is an electric-powered limousine not seen until press day, harnessing the same plug-in hybrid tech as the Chevy Volt. GM product overlord and everyone’s favourite sound-bite merchant Bob Lutz said the Volt’s drivetrain had been renamed the Voltec system and it was this lithium-ion battery set-up that underpinned the ConverJ concept car.
