Car insurance 'ghost broker' jailed

A "GHOST BROKER" from south-west London has been jailed at the Old Bailey for what is believed to be the UK's biggest fake car insurance scam, police said. Danyal Buckharee created four websites offering cheap car insurance and used paid-for advertising to ensure his online enterprises appeared at the top of internet searches. Between May 2011 and April last year he used the websites to dupe 600 drivers into buying worthless policies over the phone, the investigation by City of London Police's Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) found.

Lexus won't get BMW diesel engines despite the Toyota deal The deal for BMW to supply Toyota with diesel engines for its range in Europe will not extend to Lexus models. The deal for BMW to supply diesel engines to Toyota for Europe (and joint work on advanced lithium ion battery technology) makes a lot of sense. BMW’s diesel engine are possibly the best there are, and Toyota need good diesel offerings in Europe to mop up sales.

BMW ready to shift small coupes, convertibles to even-number nameplates

Reports in Europe say that BMW is planning a shake-up in the naming strategy for its smaller coupes and convertibles, as well as planning to shift its 1-series cars onto a front-drive platform. The nameplate shake-up will have coupe and convertible variants of the 1-series become the 2-series, while coupe and convertible variants of the 3-series will become the 4-series. The changeover is expected to start in 2013, according to a report on the Web site of Car magazine.
