This is a used ZEMCO ZT-4 driving computer.  I had this installed in my 1962 Fairlane for years and it worked great - when calibrated it was super accurate.  I pulled it out when I sold the car.  It was easy to install, and I even found an NOS flow meter which is included, even though the old one was working fine.  If your car has a fuel return line, just make sure this is between the carburetor and the fuel pump, and not in the path of the return line.

The wiring harness was not cut at all, I just balled up the excess wire under the dash.  There is some wear on the face.  The ugly universal mounting system they had is missing.  I put mine behind the radio slot in the dash so that I didn't have to cut anything on my car, and could cover it up with the radio delete plate for car shows.

It is missing 2 of the magnets - it says to stick them onto the driveline and safety wire them on.  I recommend epoxying them down and double-safety wiring them because I lost the 2 I was using.  Luckily, as long as your car isn't front wheel drive, you only need 2. and even if you lose those, magnets are not hard to come by.  I know this is enough parts to run it on carbureted car or truck, there may have been some other parts in the kit I did not use but I am not sure.

They say you can use this on fuel injected cars also, but I did not do that - seems crazy to me since they run at such high pressure.

It is easy to calibrate and install, for the MPH, you just have to drive 1 mile and press the button in between mile markers (speed does not matter when calibrating, it just counts pulses from the magnets and the hall effect sensor)  and for calibrating the fuel, you just fill up your tank and enter in how much gas you used.

It has a mode where it will display average MPG, instantaneous MPG (like updates every second or so.  Clock, distance traveled, fuel used (down to the 1/100th of a gallon I believe) Pretty cool little thing.

This used part from RetroMotion Innovations comes with a 60 day return policy.  This will give you enough time to install and test the part.  It may have very light surface scratches or flaws which would not be noticeable in normal conditions.  Any major flaw or defect we find is always mentioned in the item description.

Concept Car of the Week: Opel CD (1969)

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

Despite its sophisticated suspension and spacious interior, Opel struggled to sell its big Diplomat luxury sedan. It was 1968 and Opel simply couldn't compete with Mercedes-Benz, the leader in that segment by far. Bob Lutz, then a young executive at GM Europe, thought of using the sedan's chassis to create a large GT Coupe in an attempt to boost both its sales and profile.
