Mitsubishi i MiEV Electric car launches in Japan

Sun, 07 Jun 2009

Mitsubishi i MiEV electric car launched in Japan at around £20,000 Until now, electric cars have been very much an oddity. The laughable G-Whiz and the Tesla Roadster are interesting in their own way, but unless you want to look like Noddy’s best friend (G-Whiz) or are happy to have a second-rate Lotus Elise at three times the price (Tesla), there wasn’t much to appeal to the normal car buyer. But it’s changing.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition confirmed for LA and Tokyo

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed its SLS AMG supercar will bow out at the 2013 LA and Tokyo Motor Shows with a limited-numbers GT Final Edition. The 350 examples of the SLS AMG GT Final Edition available are said to represent the ‘last opportunity’ for interested buyers to purchase an SLS before it gets pensioned off – perhaps in favour of a newer, smaller AMG-built sports car. On Bing: see pictures of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final EditionMercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe review (2013 onwards) Like the numbers, details about the SLS Final Edition are also limited at this stage, with this initial teaser release confirming little more than its motor show debuts.

Nissan LEAF £2500 UK price drop

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Nissan has revealed that the LEAF EV will be reduced in price by £2500 with immediate effect and ahead of the launch of the uprated 2013 LEAF. The world hasn’t exactly fallen in love with electric cars, which has as much to do with the fact that an electric car, with its limited range, is never going to be a replacement for a normal ICE car. But compounding the impracticality of the EV as a replacement for the ICE car is the very high prices car makers are charging for electric cars, the sort of prices that mean buyers will probably find the ‘Cheap to Fuel’ EV a more costly option than fuelling a much cheaper comparable iICE car with petrol or diesel.
