Up for sale is a professionally rebuilt pair of Small Block Chevy cylinder heads. Casting number is 462624. The heads are dated A238 & D119 (January 23, 1978 & April 11, 1979). Heads have 76cc combustion chambers with 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust valves. The # 624 is one of the best open chamber heads of the late 1970’s & early 1980’s. These heads have the 7 hole exhaust bolt holes so they will work with any exhaust manifold. Heads have been hot tanked, shot blasted, and magnafluxed. These heads have been completely rebuilt with 16 new thick wall valve guides, 8 new hard exhaust seats, a 3 angle valve job, 8 new intake valves, 8 new exhaust valves, and 16 new heavy duty valve springs good for up to .500” valve lift. The heads have also been resurfaced .005 for a perfect head gasket seal. The heads are then thoroughly washed and fully assembled with 16 new premium metal clad Viton valve stem seals, 16 new OEM “O” ring seals, and 32 new heavy duty keepers. These heads have never had any porting or polishing work done to them. All valves and valve seats have been checked for a perfect compression seal. All threaded bolt holes are good. These heads are ready to install. The heads pictured are the actual heads you will receive. These heads were factory installed on many GM & Chevrolet vehicles including Corvette, Camaro RS SS & Z-28, Chevelle Malibu, Chevy II Nova, Bel Air, Impala, and Chevy & GMC trucks. These heads will interchange with casting number 487, 487X, 493, 993, 993X, 882, 441, 441X, 624 and many others. These heads will also interchange with camel hump heads with casting numbers 370, 461, 461X, 462, 291, 292, 186, 041, & 492. If you use these heads in place of a camel hump head it will lower the compression due to these have a larger combustion chamber. These heads will fit all 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, & 400 small block Chevy engines from 1955 to 1986 with no modifications (steam holes will need to be drilled for a 400) and 1987-1999 with correct gen 1 intake manifold (except 1992 & up LT-1 reverse flow). I tried to list everything about these heads but please ask any/all questions before buying. Payment must be received within 3 days or item will be re-listed unless other arraignments have been made in advance. Shipping, handling, & insurance is fixed at $90.00 for both heads shipped to the continental US only. Alaska, Hawaii, and everywhere else will be higher. All international bidders please multiply the shipping calculator by 2 for two boxes. If you are outside the continental US & purchase the heads please do not pay until an adjusted invoice is sent to you with the added shipping costs. Thanks for looking.

LA Auto Show Design Challenge entries unveiled

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

The 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge entries have been revealed a few days before the show is set to open. As in previous years, several of the major players in the automotive design world are participating and automakers and design studios such as BMW DesignworksUSA, Subaru, Mazda, and China's SAIC and Changfeng will be exhibiting concept art. The theme of this year's design challenge is called "Biomimicry & Mobility 2025: Nature's Answer to Human Challenges.” With nature coming to be seen as one of the best R&D labs for design, and with biological knowledge doubling every five years, design studios were challenged to design vehicles that use biomimicry to increase the efficiency of mobility itself.
